- Enforce the use of non-conductive safety shoes, hard hats and lifelines, harnesses.
- Our technicians must comply with upgraded techniques, product codes, and regulations.
- We restrict employees from wearing jewelry.
- We train employees in first aid, including CPR.
- We consult utilities before digging or beginning any project that may disrupt utility services.
Operations
- We use and maintain handrails, grips, safety lines or belts.
- We follow specifications outlined in the blueprints and National Electrical Code.
- We use explosion-proof systems in appropriate areas installed to manufacturers’ specs.
- We use UL approved or equivalent fixtures.
- We keep records of purchases of equipment and site of installation.
- We provide adequate instruction/warnings for safe operation with each fixture/system.
- We install ground fault circuit interrupters wherever appropriate.
- We ensure that the current is cut off during operations.
- We recheck de-energized circuits before work has begun.
- We assign only experienced personnel to work on hot, or energized, circuits.
- At the end of each day, we protect unfinished electrical wiring, and conduct a final inspection before leaving a job site.
- We properly secure fixtures to the ceiling or walls.
- We restrict smoking in and around unfinished construction sites.
Equipment
- We use ladders, scaffolds, or hoisting equipment that complies with safety codes.
- We inspect equipment periodically, and maintain that it is in good condition.
- We use non-metallic ladders when in danger of contacting any energy source.
- We properly ground electrical equipment, power tools and extension cords.
- We maintain inventory control of supplies and equipment.
